I've never been very into New Year resolutions, but this year I've found myself making some lists of things I want to get done and I thought it might be fun to post them here and see how much I actually get accomplished.
- Organize supplies and donate extras: yesterday I cleaned up my scrapbook area, put away my December Daily supplies, and filled a big box of items to donate. I still have one more area I need to clean out but I'm off to a good start with this one. I think I will be much more creative with a clean slate.
- Redo my kids' baby albums: their albums were made during the height of deckled scissors. I don't feel the need to remake any scrapbooks other than these, but this is a priority. I started on my son's album last year as you can see here, but that's as far as I got.
- Make a family recipe album: over Christmas my mom pulled out a 3-ring binder full of family recipes and I realized I would really like to have something similar. I've already started on this, using a 6x8 Sn@p! album.
- Digitize Everything: I guess this isn't stricrtly scrapbooking, but I want to scan in old family photos, memorabilia, and even a lot of pesky paperwork. I've put this off forever because it's so time consuming to do with a flat-bed scanner, but I think I need to just bite the bullet.
Too much stuff and not enough organization, especially in the kitchen. Let's just say it's hard for me to pass up a cute set of measuring cups. I need to edit things down to what we actually use and love. I also need to have some things repaired, like our pantry shelves which are slanting at an angle so everything you place on them tends to slide off.
I've started going room by room and making lists of things to get done. For instance I want to paint the walls in our bedroom white, and this might be the year we actually purchase/make a headboard.
I've come to the realization I will never be a gardener. I just don't enjoy spending weekends out working in the yard. But I can make more of an effort, especially in the front entry and back deck, which are the areas which are most visible.
Much like gardening, I know I will never be a great cook. But I can make a lot more of an effort in this area as well, and get more home cooked meals on the table. I need to find some reliable recipes the whole family likes and start planning out some menus. I also see a crock-pot in my future.
So that's my list for the new year. Do you have any goals you are working on? Here's to a wonderful 2014 for everyone!!!
