I think I mentioned here that one of my goals this year was to organize the kitchen. Somehow between trying to fix broken items and getting things organized, we decided to just bite the bullet and do a full kitchen remodel...floors, cabinets, countertops, etc. We did a minor kitchen remodel 18 years ago when we moved into the house by removing the wallpaper, painting the walls, and installing some open shelving. But this is different. And that means one week from today I have to have every cabinet, drawer and pantry shelf completely empty. Let me just say in 18 years we have accumulated a lot of useless stuff. We have herb savers and pie makers and lemonade brewers. We have little crockery dishes for french onion soup that we never make. I have cookie cutters for every occasion known to man. I have 6 vegetable peelers. So today and tomorrow I am gathering items for the Goodwill. I'm talking boxes and boxes of items. Then it's on to storing everything else. I told the family we are making zero trips to the grocery store anytime soon ... we will eat from the pantry. Anyway, that's what I'm up to. I hope to share my progress here, and if you have any great kitchen organizing tricks please let me know. It's going to be nice to start fresh but it's going to be a lot of work!
