My scrapbooking workspace has been in need of a good cleaning up/decluttering for awhile and I finally just dove in and got it done. This is the biggest decluttering I've ever done in this space and I'm really happy with the results. I always get more done when I have less to work with. I thought I'd share the storage solutions that are working for me.
I bought this divided storage box at Target awhile ago and use it to store envelopes, vellum, tags, stationary and notepads. I also keep scissors and pens in one of the sections for easy access. This box has worked really well for me but it needed a good cleaning out.
Don't judge me, but this is what it looked like before I cleaned it. When I'm making things I tend to just shove things back in. I took the time to clean out the things I would never use and what is left fits in much easier now.
Confession #2: I am an October Afternoon hoarder. Actually I've been hoarding a few old scrapbook lines I just couldn't part with. I kept these in 12x12 plastic containers, which I stacked on top of one another. I went through and picked up my absolute favorites which might still look like a lot but really these pieces fit in one envelope now.
And comparing it to the stack I'm getting rid of I think I did a good job decluttering. It's funny how a little time and distance can help you realize if you really like something or you are just keeping it without much purpose. I emptied 6 bins of old paper and supplies and got it down to one envelope of things I actually plan on using at some point.
I kept my Raskog cart which is really the work horse of my space. It holds my washi tape, paper trimmers, clipboards, stickers, punches, tiny attacher, scissors, stamps and other tools. Pretty much all of the essentials.
Next I decided to nix my old mismatched containers. I was using everything from old Easter baskets to shoe boxes to hold my supplies. I remembered I had a small ClosetMaid shelf with 6 cubbies downstairs so I brought it upstairs to hold everything else.
It now houses my stamps, inks, traveler notebook supplies, current albums and planners, page protectors, embellishments, and all my past kits. I'm amazed how much it fits and it's so nice to have everything easily reachable in one space.
I bought two fabric drawers. One of them holds all of my Traveler Notebook supplies and the other holds past kits and page protectors. These drawers were the only new thing I bought for this space.
A wood coffee box I bought at World Market/Cost Plus still holds my 3x4 cards. I made divider labels to separate the colors.
And that's it. I'm so happy to have this space cleaned up and organized again... it makes me want to start a new project!
