This is a Life Documented spread I did of my daughter and a Halloween Party she had.
I used Simple Stories' Frankie and Friends collection for these pages.
My favorite embellishment might be the ribbon button that says "#1 Boo Crew," which fit right in with a picture of the girls all together in their costumes.
The right-hand page shows a photo of the gift bags and some of our spooky decor.
Monday morning I woke up just as enthusiastic about continuing my WIL album. Then my son came down with the stomach flu, and I ended up spending the day home taking care of him, and doing some scrapbooking while he was sleeping.
Tuesday was more of the same. And the last thing my son wanted while he was feeling so cruddy was his mom sticking a camera in his face taking pictures of him. Ditto goes for my husband who spent the day at the dentist getting a crown put on.
Wednesday there were two disturbing incidents at my daughter's high school and truthfully the whole thing left me feeling very on edge, and picking up a camera was the last thing on my mind.
So although I don't mind scrapbooking about the bad things that happen in life, I'm finding myself with very few photos to go with the words. And I'm trying to decide what I should do about that. I haven't decided if I'll go with an album that is more words than pictures (and maybe I'll rally by the end of the week), or if I should wait and retry another week when I can take more photos, or if I should just give up on the whole project altogether and maybe wait until next year.
So here is my album through Monday, and I guess I'll have to decide how/if I continue on this year. Either way I'll let you know. Hope you are having a great week!
I feel like I'm making less and less scrapbook layouts these days, but making this one makes me want to make more.
I used Crate Paper's Open Book and used lots of pink and gold, something even more unusual for me. I guess it's good to break out of your box every now and then.
I'll be back with more Week in the Life posts tomorrow!
It worked out better for us to start our Week in the Life album on Sunday. We went to the Farmer's Market and bought pumpkins (and corn for dinner) and then came home and made a fire out on the patio.
For some reason carving pumpkins has never really been a tradition for us, but from now on I think it will be. The kids absolutely loved it.
My favorite part of the whole kit are these 3x8 pages and page protectors. On the first side of each day I plan on recording our general schedule...
And on the back side I plan on including a 3x8 photo.
And that's it for Day 1. Hopefully I will keep up the momentum for the rest of the week.
Is anyone else doing a Week in the Lifealbum this year? This will be my first time making one. I chose the matte gold cover because I thought the color went perfectly with the autumn season. I am actually starting off today (Sunday) so hopefully I will have my first day up and recorded tomorrow. I made my cover page and am ready to go! Excited for this journey.
Is anyone out there even thinking about a December Daily yet? I have quite a few projects to get done in the next couple of months, so what did I do tonight but sit down and make a bunch of tags for my album.
There are nine tags altogether, in a mix of red, aqua and pink.
I printed these out on 48lb./180g Kodak photo paper so they have a nice consistency and aren't too flimsy. They are sized to fit a 2-inch circle punch. Once they are cut out just add a small hole to the top and use the string of your choice to hang them.
They could also be used as a decoration or a gift topper.
These would also fit in one of the 2 inch pockets of a page protector. I used a few tags in my album last year and I really liked them.
If you would like a set of your own feel free to use the image below. Print it out letter size (8.5 x 11) and have fun with tags this year!
If you happen to use any of these I'd love to see what you do with them. Feel free to post a link in the comments!
Just in time for Halloween I finished up my mini album of our trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I've had these pictures around for a long time, so it's nice to finally get them in an album. I tried to make things a little more interactive in this album, including a shaker box and hidden photos. You might be able to see these things better in the video I included at the bottom of this post.
The front page opens to a tag of the Hogwarts Express.
I used a Tim Holtz worn cover and pocket protectors and lots of Ideaology products including this key and chain.
I used sandpaper on the edges of the photos to give them a distressed look.
Here we are a breakfast at the Three Broomsticks. My husband ordered the English breakfast which included blood saussage (yuck!). The rest of us settled for pancakes.
Lots of transparencies and rub-ons.
The bottom left section opens to display another photo.
Inside Hogwarts castle including the bulletin board from the Gryffindor common room.
A shaker box made with a cabinet card holding tiny silver stars.
Ollivanders wand shop.
Owl Post - my favorite place!
Zonkos joke shop complete with Puking Pastilles and Dr. Filabuster's fireworks.
Some outdoor shots including Hagrid's Hut and Buckbeak.
Potions class including Skele-Gro.
The clocktower and Butterbeer.
Herbology class in session. The Mandrake roots freaked me out.
Some more pictures from around Hogsmeade. This project was a great way to use up a lot of old scraps.
Some "library" photos including the Monster Book of Monsters and a close-up of a chess set.
Honeydukes Sweet Shop... need I say more?
tiny key to keep everything safe.
And for the first time I actually created a video. I hope you enjoyed our trip to Hogsmeade.
Here's a simple way to make a party favor for a bridal shower, birthday party, or any celebration. I recently needed a last minute favor idea for a bridal shower and came up with these little candy bags made with Notes and Things.
To make these yourself just fill a small cellophane bag with the candy of your choice. Make a bag topper by folding a piece of patterned paper (cut to size) across the top. I attached the bag toppers with a small stapler, but you could also sew these shut.
And they do double-duty as a place card at the table!
