Busy

Just wanted to drop in and say I know I've been neglecting my blog lately.  Things just kicked up a notch this spring.  The end of the school year is always busy, but it seems double this year with my daughter graduating.  There are so many events happening, summer plans to make, and just general to-do lists. Not to mention I'm recovering from a nasty case of whiplash that happened when I was rear-ended driving my daughter to school.

I haven't even mentioned that in April I joined the Citrus Twist design team!  I've been having so much fun working with their kits.  Here's some of the projects I've made.  I'm working with the PL kits, which is right up my alley.

It feels good to be getting back into scrapbooking.  I will definitely have more to add soon!

Finished my Week in the Life

I started out with great intentions and took a lot of pictures during the week, but I've been procrastinating on getting the put in my album.  Today I just bit the bullet and got everything up to date.

My daughter has been in driver's ed so I've been a nervous wreck!  We also fit some outdoor time in. But mostly it was just an average ordinary week.  It was nice to document a week during the summer though.

I just photographed a few pages.  I'm anxious to wrap up this album and move on to the next project!

Week in the Life (Saturday)

I hope I have enough photos from earlier in the week to complete this project.  I feel like the last couple of days I've done a poor job of taking pictures.

We all slept in today and once I finally get up I start cleaning kitchens and bathrooms.  I took one picture the whole time.

I think my goal in life is to get her to stop sleeping on computer keyboards.  She likes them because they are warm but she's already broken my letter "L".

I can't believe I'm sharing a picture of my refrigerator but there it is.

My son asks me if he can make me a drink and then he brings me one with an umbrella and straw, plus a lemonade for himself.  I have no idea who this child is and what he's done with my son.

He did a cute job with the drinks though.

I clean off and on throughout the day.  It's nice out but I never make it outside.

My husband and son are watching Alien.

When it's over they switch it to a movie I like better.

For the first time ever my husband allows Boomer up on the couch, and he doesn't quite know what to think about that.

We make dinner (tortilla soup) and get the kitchen cleaned up (mostly).  There's still one more load of dishes that needs to go in the dishwasher that's in the sink.

The neighbors are dropping by so we get out margarita fixings.

We have an awesome time catching up and hanging out.

Our neighbor teaches our son to play slap hand.  Ouch!  Now everyone's gone home and my husband and son are watching Alien 2, so I'm headed for bed.  I have book club in the morning!

Week In the Life (Friday)

I decided to get some of my words and stories down today for my Week-in-the-Life.  I'm having trouble getting my phone pictures downloaded so I feel like this is a little incomplete, but wanted to get the words down anyway.

I get to sleep in for the first time all summer today and I over-do it. 

After my much needed coffee I start to go through mail and paperwork.  It's a never-ending task.

My son tries to earn some money for an X-box game.  I never turn down help with the laundry.

It's hot and muggy so we pick up drinks on the way home.  Then we spend the afternoon waiting for the cable man.  I would have taken a picture of him but I was too embarrassed.  It takes 2 hours for him to hook up the cable, so the day is kind of a bust.

Jingle finds her sunspot and she spends the rest of the day there.

My daughter is playing around with her hair, I'm not sure what this style would be called.

Once my husband gets home we start dinner.  He never comes home at the same time so I won't start dinner until I know he's close.  On this day he's doing the cooking anyways.

My daughter gets this apron from Breaking Bad in her loot crate.  We make my husband wear it while he cooks.  Our neighbor seems a little taken aback by it when she stops by to discuss the fence between our yards.

The sky turns pink right before sunset.  This picture doesn't do it justice.

My husband and I stay up until one in the morning watching movies (including SALT).  I'm working on getting better people pictures today.  Only a couple days to go.

Week in the Life: Thursday

Thursday is starting off with more kitchen pictures.  Need to get around the rest of the house more.

I seemed to have used lots of yellow on this day.

It was formal day at school.  My son used a clip-on tie that I think we bought him when he was four. It was a little small for him.

And next it's on to Friday which was Halloween!

Week in the Life: Wednesday

Wednesday started with rain and ended with rain, so I knew I needed to include it in my pages.

I took this picture straight up through the sunroof of my car (right after we had missed the school bus).

It's funny because when I started this album I was imagining including all sorts of autumn things like leaves, sweaters, fall colors, etc.  Instead the album became more about real life which is a very good thing. It's much more meaningful now. 

I also learned when in need of extra photos I can always raid my kids cell phones.  Now it's on to Thursday, where it was still raining but things were much brighter.

Week in the Life: Tuesday

Thanks to Megan, Nathalie, Tracy and Annette for encouraging me to keep going with this project even though the week was not going so great (and hence I was not taking many photos).

I did some extra journaling behind the 3x8 protector.  It will be good to look back on it someday and reflect on how we tried to turn things around.  By the way my husband now has the stomach flu that my son had at this point.  Awesome.

It's ironic to me how many kitchen pictures I have on this day when my son couldn't even eat. I guess when you're stuck inside you'll take pictures of pretty mundane things.

I'm determined to work through this project one way or another.  Next up is Wednesday where I hit a bit of a low point, but things start to get better from there.

Week in the Life: Possible Fail?

Monday morning I woke up just as enthusiastic about continuing my WIL album.  Then my son came down with the stomach flu, and I ended up spending the day home taking care of him, and doing some scrapbooking while he was sleeping.

Tuesday was more of the same. And the last thing my son wanted while he was feeling so cruddy was his mom sticking a camera in his face taking pictures of him.  Ditto goes for my husband who spent the day at the dentist getting a crown put on.

Wednesday there were two disturbing incidents at my daughter's high school and truthfully the whole thing left me feeling very on edge, and picking up a camera was the last thing on my mind. 

So although I don't mind scrapbooking about the bad things that happen in life, I'm finding myself with very few photos to go with the words.  And I'm trying to decide what I should do about that. I haven't decided if I'll go with an album that is more words than pictures (and maybe I'll rally by the end of the week), or if I should wait and retry another week when I can take more photos, or if I should just give up on the whole project altogether and maybe wait until next year.

So here is my album through Monday, and I guess I'll have to decide how/if I continue on this year.  Either way I'll let you know.  Hope you are having a great week!

Week in the Life Day 1

It worked out better for us to start our Week in the Life album on Sunday.  We went to the Farmer's Market and bought pumpkins (and corn for dinner) and then came home and made a fire out on the patio.

For some reason carving pumpkins has never really been a tradition for us, but from now on I think it will be.  The kids absolutely loved it.

My favorite part of the whole kit are these 3x8 pages and page protectors.  On the first side of each day I plan on recording our general schedule...

And on the back side I plan on including a 3x8 photo.

And that's it for Day 1.  Hopefully I will keep up the momentum for the rest of the week.

Ali Edwards' Week in the Life

Is anyone else doing a Week in the Life album this year?  This will be my first time making one. I chose the matte gold cover because I thought the color went perfectly with the autumn season.  I am actually starting off today (Sunday) so hopefully I will have my first day up and recorded tomorrow. I made my cover page and am ready to go!  Excited for this journey.
